Finch Lane Collective

Counselling & Equine Assisted Therapy | Emerald, Central Queensland

When life feels overwhelming or hard to carry alone, Finch Lane Collective offers a steady, respectful space to pause, reflect, and reconnect.

Support is trauma-informed and client-led, with therapy moving at a pace that feels manageable and grounded in safety, collaboration, and emotional steadiness.

A calm, grounded approach

Finch Lane Collective provides private counselling for adolescents, adults, and families in a rural Central Queensland setting.

This practice is built on the understanding that meaningful therapeutic work begins with safety. There is no expectation to move quickly or explain everything at once. Clients are met where they are, and sessions are shaped collaboratively.

Services are relational and strengths-based, and may include ground-based equine assisted therapy where appropriate. Support is designed to complement existing medical, psychological, and community care.

How support is offered

All sessions are guided by a trauma-informed, client-led framework. This means your pace, readiness, and goals remain central throughout the process.

There is a strong focus on:

Emotional safety and regulation

Building steadiness and capacity before exploring deeper experiences.

Choice and collaboration

Working together in a way that respects consent and personal boundaries.

Trust before depth

Allowing safety and connection to develop before approaching difficult material.

Respect for strengths

Recognising resilience and existing capacity alongside challenges.

Progress is understood not by speed, but by increasing confidence, connection, and a sense of safety.

Services

Counselling

Individual counselling is available for adolescents and adults seeking a calm, thoughtful therapeutic space.

Sessions may support anxiety, difficulties with emotional regulation, the impacts of trauma, life transitions, grief, or a general sense of feeling “stuck.”

Ground-based equine-assisted therapy

Equine-assisted therapy is available as an optional, complementary approach.

Sessions take place outdoors and involve ground-based interaction only. There are no mounted activities. Involvement with the horses is always collaborative and guided by clinical suitability, therapeutic goals, and personal preference.

For some clients, working alongside horses in a rural setting can offer a sense of grounding and insight that feels different from traditional talk-based counselling.

A practice shaped by place

Located at 74 Glengallan Road, Emerald, Finch Lane Collective understands the realities of rural and regional life, including limited access to services and the value of flexible, community-aware support.

Support is offered privately, with no Mental Health Care Plan required. NDIS self-managed and plan-managed participants are welcome.

About Finch Lane Collective

Finch Lane Collective is led by Meagan Finch, Counsellor and Equine Assisted Mental Health Practitioner, based in Central Queensland.

Meagan works from a trauma-informed, client-led framework that prioritises safety, collaboration, and steady therapeutic pacing. Her approach is relational and strengths-based, shaped by the belief that meaningful change happens when people feel respected, supported, and able to move at their own pace.

Alongside counselling, the practice offers gentle, ground-based equine assisted work. The horses are a calm presence within the therapeutic environment, and involvement with the herd is always optional.
