About Finch Lane Collective

Finch Lane Collective was created to offer a calm, respectful therapeutic space — one where people can slow down, feel safe, and be met where they are.

Based in the Central Highlands, Finch Lane Collective supports adolescents, adults, and families through counselling and ground-based equine-assisted therapeutic work.
The practice is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens through safety, trust, and connection, rather than pressure or pace.

Therapy is client-led, trauma-informed, and deeply respectful of individual boundaries, readiness, and lived experience.

Meet Meagan

Finch Lane Collective is led by Meagan, who brings a steady, compassionate presence to her work with clients.
Meagan is drawn to approaches that honour the nervous system, prioritise emotional regulation, and recognise that each person’s healing process is different.

Her work is shaped by the belief that therapy should feel human, collaborative, and grounded — not rushed, overly clinical, or driven by outcomes alone.

Clients often come to Meagan feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to put words to what they are experiencing. Some arrive with a clear goal, while others simply know something does not feel right. Meagan offers a supportive space where clients can slow down, reflect, and build understanding at their own pace.

A gentle, client-led approach

Meagan works in a way that centres safety, choice, and trust. Sessions are guided by what feels most supportive for the client in the moment, rather than a fixed agenda or expectation to revisit difficult experiences before they are ready.

There is a strong focus on:

  • emotional safety and regulation

  • collaboration and consent

  • building trust before depth

  • recognising strengths alongside challenges

Progress is understood as increased confidence, connection, and a sense of safety, rather than speed or clinical milestones.

Meet the Herd

Guided by compassion, grounded in connection.

At Finch Lane Collective, the horses are not tools or techniques. They are respected partners.

Each horse brings their own temperament, history, and way of being. Sessions are thoughtfully matched to both client readiness and horse suitability, with welfare and safety guiding every decision. All work is ground-based, paced intentionally, and centred on clear communication and emotional awareness.
Below are the horses you may meet.

Lexi

Lexi is our 20-year-old Quarter Horse x Stock Horse mare and the quiet leader of the herd.

She carries herself with grounded confidence and clear boundaries, offering steadiness when clients need containment and calm direction. She is currently raising a foal, and her maternal role is respected as the priority until she returns to session work.

Bucky

Bucky is our 10-year-old Quarter Horse gelding with a soft, sensitive nature and strong emotional awareness.

He notices the smallest shifts in energy and responds honestly, making him a thoughtful partner for carefully matched clients. As my competitive horse, his involvement in therapy work is selective and always welfare-led.

Joe

Joe is our 23-year-old Australian Stock Horse and the quiet gentleman of the herd.

He offers calm, steady presence and softens instinctively to those who need reassurance. With Joe, clients experience connection without pressure — just grounded companionship and honest communication.

Ziggy

You may notice a young foal in the paddock. She is here to grow, learn herd life, and develop at her own pace — not to participate in sessions. At Finch Lane Collective, horses enter therapeutic work only when physically mature, emotionally ready, and appropriately assessed.

A Note on Welfare

Not every horse is suited to every client.
Not every day is suitable for every horse.

Matching is intentional, readiness is assessed, and the wellbeing of both client and horse remains central at all times.
